PROJECT:

MONASH HEALTH & EDUCATION PRECINCT

This precinct structure plan is prepared for Urban Precinct Studio (ABPL30060)’s final assignment. It aims to serve as a long term city planning tool that acts as a guideline for the precinct’s future growth.

The precinct structure plan (PSP) covers the area of Monash University and Monash Medical Centre, located in the suburb of Clayton.

The area has a diverse ethnic population as a result of Monash University and is generally made up of single dwellings on large blocks. Despite this, the precinct lacks mixed-use activities and pedestrian safety.

With a close proximity to the Monash Medical Centre and Monash University, the precinct provides greater employment opportunities and its diverse population encourage inclusivity.

The aim of the design solution for the precinct is to create a vibrant, connected and inclusive precinct. The design is divided into three key themes, which are development (land use and built form), access and movement, and public spaces.

More details on how this can be achieved are presented in the Monash Health and Education Precinct Structure Plan document below.
